SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS STILL NEEDED: We have one teacher for all of the grades but  are in search of one more person in several classes,  to share the Sundays.  Please consider helping and let a learning board member or Jen know if you are willing.  Grades needing another teacher are: Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Fourth Grade and Sixth Grade.  In addition, if you are willing to be on the substitute teacher list, or substitute Cherub or Jr. Choir leader, please let a learning board member know.  Learning board members are: Kara Paulson, Lacy Hanson, Leslie Longhenry, and Andrea Theilen. Thank you for ensuring that our young people have consistent leadership in their church faith formation!

CHILDREN’S OFFERING: In September, the Children’s and Sunday School offering will be going to Lutheran Disaster Relief to benefit the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. If you would like to contribute to this ministry, please give your offering to a child to bring up during the service. Thank you!

TV AND TV CART NEEDED: The Cherub Choir is in need of a TV to use for Sunday School for music videos and lessons.  These will need to be kept on a wheeled cart so that they can be easily moved.  If you have any of the above items that you are willing to donate, please contact Laura Mullin or Andrea Theilen, or leave a message at the church! Thank you!!

Zion is exploring options for redesigning our church website. If you or someone you know has Web Design experience, we'd love to hear from you! We are open to referrals/suggestions as we strive to achieve this exciting goal for our church.  Please contact Holly Schleuter, Fellowship/Outreach at 321-8590 for more information.

SNOW REMOVAL BIDS: The Zion Property Board is looking for snow removal bids on the church sidewalks and stairs. All areas need to be done before Saturday and Sunday services and before other events such as weddings, funerals, etc. The north sidewalk and entry needs to be done after every snowfall for the safety of staff and confirmation students. Bids should be itemized by cost per hour by equipment type (shovel versus snowblower, etc.) Please submit bids to the church office. Contact Ryan Longhenry with any questions at 605-695-1611, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The Henry G Fix Post Sunday Breakfast will be October 1, serving from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Chef Jim Kurtz and his crew will serve omelets and scrambled eggs.  Enjoy an excellent breakfast and a pleasant visit with your friends and neighbors.

THRIVENT DISASTER ASSISTANCE: There are many ways you can help those devastated by the fires and hurricanes.  Unfortunately, there are also "scammers" who are trying to take advantage of people who want to help.  We encourage everyone to research before donating.  In case you are not aware, Thrivent is currently matching donations. You can make a personal donation on Thrivent.com. When you do, Thrivent will double the impact – up to $3 million. This opportunitywill run until the $3 million match is met or until December 31, 2017, whichever comes first. Donations toward Irma, Harvey and the Western fires (270,000 acres in Mt. alone) are all possible options. You can also direct your Choice Dollars to disaster relief. If you do not have computer access you can also call 800-847-4836 and they will be happy to assist you.

lefsa making days at zion are scheduled for October 9 & 16. Come and experience the fun!

Faith Mentors: 9th graders should begin thinking about who their mentors will be for this fall.  It needs to be someone who is over 25, a member of Zion is preferable, but can be anyone who shares and supports the Lutheran faith.  Cannot be a relative.  This should be someone of your young person’s choosing (though you can give suggestions!)  and someone who they would feel comfortable talking to and sharing with.  They will need to ask that person themselves. For mentors, it is a once a month commitment starting in October, and done In April. Mentor meetings can happen at the time and place of your choosing.  If any adult in the congregation is willing to be a mentor and you have never done sobefore, please let me know so I can pass your name along, when people ask for suggestions! Thanks!

“Son” Shine Box. Please look for the "Son Shine Box" in the Narthex and fill out a card for anyone you think could use a Sunshine Card. Sunshine cards can be sent for any reason, such as illness, death in family, retirement, anniversary, birth of new baby, etc. Thank you, Mission and Fellowship Board.
